Message From MoJ and List of 30 bidders

THIRTY NEW BIDDERS ANNOUNCED TO WORK WITH OFFENDERS
(Message from MoJ)

Thirty bidders have passed the first stage of the competition to win the regional rehabilitation contracts. The list includes a diverse mix of private and voluntary sector partnerships with more than 50 organisations represented – from charities experienced in tackling a range of issues affecting offenders, to small and large businesses and experienced multinationals.

Mutuals formed by probation staff also have the opportunity to play a major role in the reforms, with around a third of the shortlisted bidders coming from these groups, and all of the bidders having experience of working with offenders or across the wider criminal justice system.

The contracts have been split across 20 regions for England and one for Wales, with responsibility for supervising and rehabilitating around 225,000 low and medium risk offenders.

Along with the 30 lead providers who have passed the competition’s first-stage, a further 800 organisations have expressed an interest in playing a role as part of the wider supply chain – with more than 550 voluntary sector organisations among that number.
