A Voice From Probation

A VOICE FROM PROBATION

Welcome to my first blog, my name is David Hurst and I'm an ex-prisoner assisted by the Probation Service many years ago in Cardigan House Probation Hostel, now proudly working in South Yorkshire Probation Trust for the last 14 years, married to a retired Probation Officer for over 25 years, and I'm interested in improving and continuing my work, and in opposing the privatisation of public services

Even though I'm attempting my first blog, I'm not very articulate, and I have recently been assessed as being dyslexic, but hey ho away I go, because it hurts me that my probation colleagues are being battered by this Government's attack on an excellent public service, and I am, what I am, a voice from Probation.

I read that CUMBRIA Probation Trust has been rated ‘exceptional’ by the performance unit at the National Offender Management Service. It follows the latest end of quarter assessment of a range of targets, which are compared with each probation trust across the country. Cumbria was rated four star in public protection and reducing re-offending and three star for sentence delivery.

But Cumbria is not different to the rest of the Trusts, but still the MoJ are bent on rashly ramming through Transforming Rehabilitation and impacting on Probation Worker's

I also read that Atos, G4S paid no corporation tax last year despite carrying out £2billion of taxpayer-funded... http://t.co/gbw2xzqgzO Why are the Government allowing this to continue, and concentrating on pushing austerity measures on the Poor? In my opinion this Govt has keeled over to a business-run society, where business are constantly fighting to improve their power & diminish workers.
